The Jersey Shore star Mike Sorrentino confirmed Wednesday he has willingly checked in a drug rehab program to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion. A statement was posted on the reality-TV personality's official website Wednesday, after denying online reports that he checked into rehab.

Don't believe everything you read or hear, he tweeted Tuesday. Later, he took it to Twitter account to share his new statement, which was titled The Situation Wants to Set The Record Straight.

I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion, his statement said. I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys. Why do celebs keep on abusing of these substances in the first place? It ain't normal to go into rehab for prescription medication use. Well, we wish him great days and to get soon recovered.

While Jersey Shore ended its fifth season this month, MTV announced this week they renewed the show for a sixth year with the production starting this summer in Seaside Heights, N.J.
