Queen prepared Freddie Mercury illusion for band's special musical
The news was revealed by Queen guitarist Brian May, which also insisted to say that this effect it won't be quite like Tupac "hologram" which Snoop Dogg and Dr. dre had at their performance at Coachella set, last month.
A special illusion representing former Queen's frontman Freddie Mercury will appear on stage during band's performance of the West End musical We Will Rock You set for May 14th. The news was revealed by Queen guitarist Brian May, which also insisted to say that this effect it won't be quite like Tupac "hologram" which Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre had at their performance at Coachella set, last month.
Accordign to BBC News, May stated that effect will be "an optical illusion of sorts" and not a hologram, says that "people will come out saying 'Did we actually see Freddie?'"
"It's a little unfortunate they did that thing with Tupac as we've been trying to make Freddie appear on the stage for quite a while," he told the BBC. "[That technique] is something we've looked at ourselves, but I think probably for a show that runs eight shows a week it's not really quite practical."
A hard-rock hammerer, a disco glitterer, a rockabilly lover boy, Freddie Mercury was dynamite with a laser beam, his four-octave range overdubbed into a shimmering wall of sound on records such as Bohemian Rhapsody and Killer Queen.
