Queen lined-up for Sonisphere Festival, Adam Lambert joins as frontman
"Better Than I Know Myself" singer Adam Lambert has confirmed he will be the frontman for Queen during the summer festival, at England's Sonisphere Festival July 7th. Adam tweeted the news on Monday, February 20th: "I can finally confirm: I have been invited by Queen to sing one very special concert!" "Sorry to be coy about the details the past few weeks, but I made a promise to keep it under wraps as best I could. Gonna be a surreal night!"
While legendary star Freddie Mercury took his final performance with Queen at Knebworth Park in 1986, Adam will performs for the first time at the festival, the third time with the band after his appearances at 2009 American Idol finale and 2011 MTV Europe Awards. Queen will headline the second day of Sonisphere.
"Judging by my incoming mail, this decision will make a lot of people very happy," Queen guitarist Brian May said via a press release announcing the concert. "It's a worthy challenge for us, and I'm sure Adam would meet with Freddie's approval! And what better place to revisit, and walk those emotional paths than Knebworth? It will be a rush."
