Pop rock singer Adam Lambert considered as American Idol judge

In addition sources are reporting that Randy Jackson and/or Steven Tyler may be dropped.

Famous American singing competition "American Idol" may have its first former contestant sit on the judging panel the very next season. Words on the streets are that "American Idol" executives have been talking to Adam Lambert for over a month now, as E! Online reports. It still looks like Jennifer Lopez may not return for a third season of judging unless Fox can convince her to change her mind. She seems to be very expenssive for the show! In addition sources are reporting that Randy Jackson and/or Steven Tyler may be dropped. Producer Nigel Lythgoe says, "Everything is up in the air." The current panel has been criticized for being too easy on contestants.

As for the reason executives are asking Adam to join the show, E! Online cites: "He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start. He knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of the judges' comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can't go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show," the source said. "People love him."

Adam Lambert finished second on American Idol, but he has emerged as a pop star and become one of the most successful of the show's former contestants. His most recent studio album Trespassing hit #1 on the album chart. Adam Lambert has also performed live with the iconic rock band Queen. It seems that American Idol producers may be keeping an eye on X Factor's hiring of contemporary pop stars Britney Spears and Demi Lovato to serve on the show's judging panel this fall.
