Dr. Murray's interviews to NBC will air Thursday and Friday
Waiting for his sentencing from Los Angeles County Jail, dr. Conrad Murray decided to express himself in a defending interview with the NBC as he kept the silence during the 6-week trial. Murray reportedly taped the interviews one day before his verdict in the involuntary manslaughter trial with a reporter from NBC's Today Show, Savannah Guthrie which will air in two episodes, on Thursday and Friday.
Yesterday, November 9th NBC released excerpts from these interviews. "I think propofol is not recommended to be given in the home setting," Murray said, "but it is not contraindicated." The physician sustains that the popstar was using the substance long before met him, and also as his defence said during the trial, he administred Jackson a small dose of Propofol and he didn't needed to be watched while sleep. "That's a very sad reason," he said, "because it was inconsequential _ 25 milligrams and the effect's gone. Means nothing", doctor said about not telling the paramedics that arrived at Jackson's mansion that night.
Guthrie asked, "Well, you told them about the other drugs, but you didn't tell them about propofol?" "Because it had no effect," Murray said. "It was not an issue." Though, the coroner at the trial said that Michael died of "acute propofol intoxication", Murray's defense tried to show that Michael's death came from an extra dose of the substance that Micahel himself injected while he was out of the bedroom.
The cardiologist also said he probably should have walked away when Jackson asked for propofol. But he said he would have been abandoning a friend.
Another documentary made by Murray himself is set to air on MCNBC on Friday. The executors of Jackson's estate got outraged on Wednesday and demanded the program be cancelled. The 58-year-old doctor intitled his documentary "Michael Jackson and the Doctor: A Fatal Friendship", and so far the network didn't comment the demands.
Conrad Murray will face his sentencing on November 29th.
