Chely Wright got married! The only openly gay country singer, Chely Wright, and her girlfriend, Lauren Blitzer, were married on Saturday, August 21 the same day reality tv personality Kim Kardashian married to Kris Humphries. Chely Wright, 40 has unveiled last year she is a lesbian and she first meet Blitzer, 30, a LGBT rights activist in spring of 2010.

The news were spread on twitter on Sunday where Chely herself has posted a photo of her and Lauren dressed in the wedding gowns, looks like before the ceremony. The couple were married during a private ceremony at Blitzer's aunt's home in Connecticut, one of several states recognizing same-sex marriage.

It was reported that her record sales began to suffer after coming out. She told the Los Angeles Times that being openly gay would likely hurt her career. "They would rather you were a drug addict than be gay," she told the newspaper. "They will forgive you if you beat your wife, lose your kids to state, get six divorces, make a sex tape, get labeled as a tramp — any and all of it is better than being gay."
