5.3 Magnitude earthquake hits Dominican Republic on Thursday morning

A moderate tremor was felt 10 miles (16 kilometers) of the Dominican Republic city of San Jose de Ocoa on Thursday morning, January 5th at around 5:35 am local time. According to United States Geological Survey, the magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck at a depth of 6.2 miles (10 km) and lasted 30 seconds.
