William Eggleston is a well known American photographer, born in Memphis, Tennessee. He is widely credited with increasing recognition for color photography as a legitimate artistic medium to display in art galleries.

William attended Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN; Delta State; while took college in Cleveland, MS; University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS.

His work came to public attention in the 1970s when it was featured in several exhibitions, notably in 1976 when his one-man show William Eggleston’s Guide was held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
