James Frederick "Webb" Simpson is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour.

Career:

Simpson won his second tournament of the 2011 PGA Tour season at the second FedEx Cup playoff event, the Deutsche Bank Championship. He beat Chez Reavie in a sudden death playoff. Simpson made a 10-foot birdie putt on the 18th to cut Reavie's lead by one and when Reavie bogeyed the 18th and they went into a playoff replaying the 18th hole. Simpson made another 12-foot birdie putt to stay alive whilst Reavie had knocked it stone dead for birdie. On the 17th hole Simpson hit his second shot on the par-4 to 8 feet and Reavie replied by hitting his to within 20 feet. Reavie shaved the edge with his attempt, allowing Simpson to capitalise by knocking his 8 footer in for the victory. Simpson moved to first in the FedEx Cup standings for the first time in his career.

2007

Fall, 2006
Played in three tournaments before breaking a bone in his hand in October... decided to skip the team's trip to Scotland for the International Collegiate because he anticipated missing class time in October at the World Team Amateur Championship... had the second-lowest stroke average (72.78) on the team... 7.75 of his nine rounds counted toward the team score... four of his nine rounds were at par or better... shot 2-over at the Carpet Capital Collegiate to finish 41st... finished 11th at the Ping/Golfweek Preview after shooting a pair of 69s in rounds 2 and 3... shot 72 and 73 at the Bank of Tennessee Collegiate, but a second-round 81 dropped him to 41st place.

Summer, 2006
Won the Sunnehanna Amateur Golf Tournament in Johnstown, Pa. in June... shot a 67 in the final round, including a key birdie on the final hole, to win the 53rd annual event... qualified for the North/South Amateur match play with a 69-72.

2005-06

Enjoyed a very successful and busy off-season... took first place at the Southern Amateur in Myrtle Beach after firing four consecutive rounds of under par... took fourth place at the Dogwood Invitational after shooting a second-round score of 63 at Druid Hills... made it to the round of 32 in the United States Amateur in Philadelphia.
