2009 - Played in 12 games with one start, missing the final three games with a sports hernia injury, and notched nine tackles with an interception and a pass defense. 2008 – Started two of the 15 games he appeared in, inactive for the opener…Ranked second on the club with 19 special teams stops, and added a fumble recovery…On defense had a career-high 27 tackles (24 solo), two interceptions and five pass defenses…Oct. 26 vs. San Diego, had two special teams tackles and recovered a fumble on kickoff coverage that led to a TD…at Kansas City, Nov. 16, had four stops, two special teams tackles and his first career interception…Played extensively on defense vs. Green Bay, Nov. 24 and had a career-best seven tackles (five solo) and knocked away a pass…Added five solo tackles vs. Atlanta…Notched first two career starts at Chicago, Dec. 11 and the following week at Detroit, where he had three tackles and an INT.

2007 – Played in 14 games, contributing primarily on special teams and as a reserve cornerback…Led team with 20 tackles on special teams and added 10 stops on defense, along with two pass defenses…In opener at Indianapolis, Sept. 6, recorded two special teams tackles…Saw first action on defense against Tennessee, Sept. 24 and had broke up a pass…Missed a pair of games (Nov. 11 vs. St. Louis and Nov. 18 at Houston) with a hamstring injury…Had a season-best three special teams stops in the Philadelphia game.

COLLEGE

A four-year starter at Kent State who opened 37 of his 45 career games…Career totals include 198 tackles (129 solo), three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, nine interceptions with 21 yards in returns, 21 pass defenses and a blocked kick…A semifinalist for the Draddy Trophy in 2006, which recognizes a college player for his combined success in academics, football performance and community leadership…A second-team All-Mid American Conference selection with a career-high 60 tackles (39 solo), two interceptions, three forced fumbles and a blocked punt as a senior in 2006…Started seven games as a junior and had 50 tackles (30 solo), adding two interceptions…Posted 39 stops (28 solo) and had three interceptions for 57 yards in returns in his sophomore season.

Health and Physical Education major…Selected by voters on NFL.com as the winner of the league’s “Super Ad” competition in 2008, appearing in a national advertisement during the Super Bowl with his father, LeRoi. The ad spotlighted Usama’s job as a youth working as a snacks and drinks vendor at Washington Redskins games, with the role of young Usama played by actor Eddie Murphy’s son, Christian…Attended Largo (Md.) HS, named second-team all-state as a senior after recording 65 tackles and five interceptions…Earned four letters in track and three each in football and baseball…First name is pronounced oo-SOMM-uh…Resides in Largo, Md.
