TRANSACTIONS:
Originally a 5th-round (147th pick overall) draft choice by SF in 2007... Signed a three-year contract extention through 2013 on 10/28/09.

•Tarell was the recipient of the Thomas Herrion Award in 2007. The honor is given to the 49ers rookie or first-year player who best exemplifies the spirit of Herrion, the former 49ers lineman who died in August of 2005. It’s not only his work ethic that got Brown to where he is today, but also his ability to overcome a variety of challenges throughout his young life. At the age of 9, Brown’s mother was killed as she was getting into her car to go to work early one morning. Following his mother’s death, Brown moved in with his father, Robert, who not only saw football as an escape for his son, but also as an opportunity for him to earn a scholarship and a solid education. Just prior to the NFL Draft, his father died of a heart attack on Valentine’s Day. After recording his first career INT in 2008 against the Lions, Brown sent the ball to his family home in Mesquite, TX, in dedication to his late parents.
•Won the Dallas-Area Punt, Pass & Kick Championship at Texas Stadium as a 9-year-old and finished 3rd at the national competition in San Diego.
