Sonu Sood is originally from Punjab and did his schooling there. He shifted to Nagpur to do his Electronic Engineering and simultaneously did small fashion shows. He soon moved to Delhi to pursue a career in modelling and it was there that he participated in Mr India. However, after a while modelling lost its charm for him and he decided to move to Mumbai and subsequently started acting in the Telugu film industry. He still continues to do Telugu films along with Hindi films.

Sonu Sood got his big break in 2001 with Tamil director Ravichandran's Majunu. The actor immediately got noticed for his performances and hasn't looked back since. He went on to star in numerous Tamil and Tegulu films subsequently but his Bollywood debut came in 2002 with Zindagi Khoobsoorat Hai. His co-star was Tabu but unfortunately for him the film bombed at the box office.
