Sherrick McManis is an American football cornerback for the Houston Texans of the National Football League.
Selected by the Houston Texans in the fifth round (144th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.

COLLEGE:
Talented cornerback who earned an postseason all-star invite to the 2010 East-West Shrine Game (was unable to participate in the game due to injury)…invited to the NFL’s 2010 Scouting Combine in Indianapolis...has tremendous football instincts...possesses skills that “you can’t coach”...positioned sixth (tied with Willie Lindsey) on NU’s career interceptions list with nine...ranks third on NU’s career pass breakups list with 30...despite being hampered with leg injuries his senior season, played in 10 of 13 games and was named team’s 2009 Defensive MVP...an outstanding special teams player.

2009:

2008:
Consensus honorable mention All-Big Ten selection...finished fourth on team with 67 tackles and first on squad with 14 passes defended, which is tied for fifth in the Big Ten and 38th nationally...three tackles in 2008 Alamo Bowl vs. Missouri...five stops and one interception vs. Illinois, earning team defensive big playmaker honors...at Michigan, set a career high with three pass breakups and finished with three…racked up a career-best nine solo tackles against the Blue Devils...named team’s defensive player of the game vs. Duke...tied for 38th in the Big Ten with 5.2 tackles per game.

2007:
Starter at cornerback...returned kickoffs in 10 games (first four, last six)...ranked sixth in the Big Ten with a 23.2 ypr average…led team with 10 tackles (six solo), as well as two TFL’s (loss of 5 yards) in win over Northeastern...finished third on team with 75 tackles...had 6.5 TFL’s and led team with six pass breakups.

2006:
Named to Sporting News’ Freshman All-Big Ten team...team’s NGN Special Teams Newcomer of the Year Award recipient...Named the team’s special teams player of the week for five consecutive weeks (Eastern Michigan through Purdue) and seven overall...earned his sixth and seventh such honors for performances at Michigan and Iowa...made his first start on defense, playing the team’s nickel back against Purdue... started three games (Michigan, Iowa and Ohio State) at cornerback...handled team’s kickoff return duties...ranked seventh in the Big Ten with a kickoff return average of 21.0...had six kickoff returns for 30 or more…earned his first career interception against Ohio State’s Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith...added three tackles and two pass breakups vs. the Buckeyes.

HIGH SCHOOL:
A versatile performer who earned team MVP and all-state honors (played eight different positions his senior year)...earned all-state honors from the Champaign-Urbana News-Gazette and Illinois Football Coaches Association...first-team Peoria Journal Star all-area and all-conference selection, as well, in 2005...helped the Knights earn a berth in the Illinois state playoffs three consecutive years ... Primarily played tailback and defensive back for Richwoods...also a dangerous kick and punt returner...earned a spot in the IFCA’s Shriners All-Star game…won the Illinois state long jump his junior year...one of several Northwestern players to come out of Richwoods High -- Dan and Ed Sutter are two other Richwoods’ alums…coached by Doug Simper.
