Shaun Cody is an American football defensive tackle for the Houston Texans of the National Football League.

Drafted by Detroit Lions in the second round (37th pick overall) in the 2005 NFL Draft…Signed by Lions on July 29, 2005…Signed by Houston Texans as unrestricted free agent on March 30, 2009.

Rotated at the defensive tackle position, ending the year with 34 tackles (13 solo)…had his lone career interception…garnered first interception vs. Minnesota (9/16)…made a diving catch off a deflected pass by S Gerald Alexander.

2006 (Detroit 6/5):
Registered 15 tackles (seven solo) in six games with five starts…placed on the reserve/injured list with a dislocated left toe on 11/24/06…made his third career start, and first opening day start, at defensive tackle against Seattle (9/10) to record five tackles (one solo)…had five tackles (four solo) at Chicago (9/17)…inactive against Buffalo (10/15), at the New York Jets (10/22), vs. Atlanta (11/5) and vs. San Francisco (11/12) with a dislocated left toe…returned to the lineup at Arizona (11/19) after missing four games with a dislocated left toe, but left the game after re-aggravating the injury.

Prior to his senior season in 2004, he moved to end from tackle and finished with a career-high 45 tackles (29 solo), 10 sacks, 13 stops for losses, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and three pass deflections…team captain and voted PAC-10 co-Defensive Player of the Year.; SportsIllustrated.com 2004 All-American first team; Associated Press All-American first team; Football Writers Association of American first team…finalist for the Lombardi Award and Hendricks Award and semifinalist for the Bednarik Award and Lott Trophy.
