COLLEGE:
In the continuing effort to find young talent on the offensive line, the Dallas Cowboys drafted Sam Young with their first pick in the sixth round (179th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. Young started 50 consecutive games at Notre Dame to hold the longest starting streak of any Notre Dame player and became the first player in school history to start his collegiate debut on the offensive line for the Irish. He has shown the ability to play both tackle spots through his collegiate career, seeing most of his time on the right side. He will enter the 2010 season looking to learn the pro game as a reserve.
2009:
# As a senior, was on the preseason watch lists for the Lombardi Award (nation’s top lineman) and Outland Trophy (college football’s best interior lineman).
# Started all 12 games at right tackle and helped the offense finish fifth in the nation in passing (323.5 yards-per-game) and eighth in total offense (451.8) while averaging 30.1 points-per-game.
2008:
# All-America honorable mention and All-Independent first-team selection after starting all 13 games as a junior.
# Helped the team average 355.1 yards-per-game, including 245.4 through the air.
2007:
# Started all 12 games as a sophomore with the first two starts coming at right tackle before switching to the left side for the remaining 10 games.

# A freshman All-America first-team selection by The Sporting News and Rivals.com, taking over the right tackle role to become the first freshman offensive lineman to start a season opener since freshmen became eligible in 1972.
