Rishi Kapoor was born on 4th September 1952, in the legendary Kapoor family. He is the second son of the veteran actor and director Raj Kapoor. His brother Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor have been celebrated actors of the film fraternity. He is married renowned actor Neetu Singh and has two children Ranbir and Riddhima Kapoor.
Career
Rishi Kapoor started his career when he was in his teens, playing his father’s role as a child, in the well-known movie ‘Mera Naam Joker’. With the acting skills in his genes and a knack of creativity, he struck jackpot from the very start of his career. Overwhelmed by the adulation he received, he bagged the lead role for his father’s next home production ‘Bobby’, which was an instant hit amongst youngsters. Two hit releases back to back for a newcomer like him set his hold in the star world immediately.
Rishi KapoorAfter that, there was no looking back for the ace actor. His films fuelled his lover boy-for-all-seasons image as he was popularly known. He was the heartthrob of the nation in the 1970s. Though the actor had a perfect start, he could not sail in the ship of being at the top for a long time, as budding actors like Amitabh (in his angry young man look) who strived to flourish in the industry, struck the chords of success. He fought his way back with Nagin and Chandni, both paired opposite Sridevi and his home production Henna, but could not do much to resurrect his image.
He ventured into direction, with the movie ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalen’, but was not successful. With time, he moved to character role, with movies like ‘Raju Chacha’ (2000), ‘Hum Tum’ (2004) and ‘Fanaa’ (2006). He was also seen in ‘Namaste London’ (2007) and an English-language film titled ‘Don't Stop Dreaming’ (2007). In his career spanning to almost four decades now, the Prince Charming of Bollywood has done loads of movies and has been concerned with almost all the departments of film-making be it acting, direction, editing or even sound departments.
