Ricky Barkley Jean-Francois is a professional American football nose tackle for the San Francisco 49ers. He played collegiately at Louisiana State.

Ricky Jean Francois is a versatile defender who is able to lineup at both the tackle and end positions, providing depth on the defensive line.

Originally the second of two 7th-round selections (244th overall) by SF in 2009.

GOLDMINE:
•Ricky was an elite shot putter in high school and competed on the track and field team during his time at LSU. His athletic ability has earned him the nickname, “The Freak.” If he wasn’t playing football, he would be competing in track and field in shot put, discus and javelin.

2009:
•Made his NFL debut at Phi. (12/20) on special teams.
•Saw his first action on defense vs. Det. (12/27).

COLLEGE:
•Played in 25 games (9 starts) and posted 56 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 3 PDs, 3 FRs and a FF during his Tigers career. In 2008, played in 11 games (6 starts) at DT, recording 20 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 PDs and a FR. In 2007, started 2 games and was named Defensive Most Outstanding Player in the BCS National Championship Game, registering 6 tackles, a half sack and a blocked field goal, in LSU’s win over Ohio State. As a redshirt freshman in 2006, played in 12 games (1 start) and tallied 27 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, 3 sacks, 1 PD, 1 FF, and 1 FR.

PERSONAL:
•Was rated the No.1 defensive line prospect in Florida while playing at Carol City (FL) HS. As a senior, named first-team all-state with 93 tackles, 15 sacks, 6 FFs, 3 FRs and 3 INTs, while setting the Florida state record for sacks in a game (6.5).
•Won state championships in the shot put and discus as both a junior and senior. Recorded the nation’s 3rd-best toss in the shot put with a throw of 65-5 ¾ in 2005.
•Majored in general studies with an emphasis in communication studies and sports studies.
