Hazlewood first appeared in Crossroads in 2002, when the newly revamped version of the once popular soap returned to ITV. She played the character, Beena Shah who first appeared as a Bar Waitress, and later became the receptionist. She had an eye for the character, Jake Booth (Colin Wells) in the show, but this soon vanished when he threatened to sack her for sleeping with him. She was later demoted back to waitress, and thought it was a conspiracy to get her the sack due to her sleeping with Jake. Beena also discovered that Jake's son Scott (Matthew Maude) had a crush on her. However, when Crossroads returned again in 2003, Beena had changed. She now aspired to become a supermodel, but when the new owners the Samsons took over the hotel, she decided she to try and become a powerful business woman like Angel (Jane Asher).
Rebecca made her first appearance as Arun Parmar in episode 1 of Series 7. She arrived fresh from court with her co-defendant, Janine Nebeski (Nicola Stapleton) after being convicted of credit car fraud. It was obvious from the start that Janine had a problem with Arun, namely for confessing their scam in court due to her cathoilc upbringing and religious beliefs. But Arun hid a dark secret and the secret was to uncover a storyline in Bad Girls that had not been explored in the previous six series. Arun was a transsexual and as expected, the storyline focused on her search for acceptance as a male-female transsexual in a women's prison. Arun had a harsh time on G-Wing, especially from Janine and evil Natalie Buxton (Dannielle Brent). But her saviour came in the form of new tough inmate, later top-dog Pat Kerrigan (Liz May Brice). Pat hated bullies and she battled Natalie for Arun's right to stay at Larkhall. On winning the fight, Pat became top-dog and Arun was finally accepted. Her final appearance was during the 2005 Christmas Special, in which she played Prince Charming in the G-Wing panto. She has not been seen since and her exit was not explained in Series 8.
It has been suggested that Rebecca may break into Hollywood after she took the lead role in American movie, Kissing Cousins..
In 2007, Rebecca played young Parin in ODE, based on the novel "Ode to Lata" by Ghalib Shiraz Dhalla.
