Rashin Rahman is an Indian film actor in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films.He was considered as one of the superstars in Malayalam cinema in 1980s. He has acted in more than 150 films. He acted in the films of reputed directors like Padmarajan, Bharathan, K. Balachander, Priyadarshan and acted along with great artists like Prem Nazir, Sivaji Ganesan, Mammootty, Mohanlal, Madhu, M. G. Soman, Sukumaran, K. P. Ummer, Sathyaraj, Vijayakanth, and Prabhu Ganesan. Rahman has featured alongside Mammootty and Mohanlal together in about seven films, and each of them was very successful.

Rahman's native place is in Nilambur, Malappuram district, Kerala. Rahman attended Baldwin Boys High School in Bangalore, St Joseph's Abudhabi in Abu Dhabi, Rex Higher Secondary School in Ooty, and M.E.S. Mampad College, Nilambur.

Rahman is six feet tall. He is married to Mehrunnisa; they have two children, Rushda and Alisha. A. R. Rahman married actor Rahman's wife's elder sister, Saira Banu.

Rahman received the State Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in his very first film, Koodevide. He also received the Film Critics Award and Chamber Award for this film. In 1984 he received the Kerala Film Chamber Award for Best Actor for the film Ithiri Poove Chuvanna Poove. Rahman received the Award for Trendsetter in the history of Malayalam cinema's 78 years at the Etisalat Everest Film awards held in Dubai in 2007. The public voted Rahman for this award from the nominations including Kamal Hassan, Sreedevi, Manju Warrier and Nadhiya.

Rahman's Malayalam film Manjadikkuru, directed by Anjali Menon, received two awards at the 2008 International Film Festival in Kerala.

Several of Rahman's Malayalam films are awaiting release. The first one, Manjadikuru ("Lucky Red Seeds"), was produced by the National Film Development Corporation of India and directed by Anjali Menon. The film premiered in 2009 at the International Film Festival of Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram.

Rahman's big-budget Malayalam movie Musafir, directed by Pramod Pappan, is scheduled for release in December 2011. Mamta Mohandas is the heroine in this film.

His latest Malayalam film is Traffic, directed by Rajesh R Pillai. After finishing Traffic, Rahman joined the sets of Lavender. Lavender is a love story directed by Atlas T. Ali.

Ennennum Kathorkkan by Shopy is scheduled to start shooting in August 2011.
