Randy McMichael life and biography

Randy Montez McMichael (born June 28, 1979 in Griffin, Georgia) is an American football tight end who is currently a member of the San Diego Chargers. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at Georgia.

In June, the Chargers bolstered an already talented group of tight ends, signing McMichael to a one-year deal.

A fourth-round draft pick in Miami in 2002, McMichael spent his first two NFL seasons playing for Chargers Head Coach Norv Turner, then serving as the Dolphins’ offensive coordinator. McMichael has been a starter since his rookie season in the league, starting all but one of the 116 games he’s combined to play for the Dolphins and St. Louis Rams.

McMichael left the Dolphins as the team’s most prolific tight end of all-time having caught 283 passes for 3,096 yards while not missing a single start in five seasons.

A single father of four, McMichael enjoys working with kids. In Miami, he started the Randy McMichael Foundation and still hosts an annual shopping event with at-risk kids.

McMichael enjoys travel, golf and fine cigars. Countries he's visited include the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Costa Rica and Trinidad. Recently he and a friend opened a business renting jet skis on the beach in Trinidad.

McMichael comes from an athletic family. His sister, Kendra, is a sophomore small forward at Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina and his mom, Angel, was the Georgia Player of the Year at Griffin High School in 1978.

2003: Career-high 102 yards vs. New England Oct. 19...Dolphins’ first 100-yard game by TE since ’88 and only sixth in franchise history.

2002: Pepsi NFL Rookie of Week after TD catch in NFL debut Sept. 8 vs. DET.

COLLEGE: First-team All-SEC as senior and honorable mention as soph...SEC and Sporting News Frosh All-America...90 catches for 1,213 yards and five TDs in career...missed all but one game in ’97 (thumb) and all of ’98 (knee)...played at Georgia from 1997-01...family and consumer science degree.
