Ramires Santos do Nascimento (born March 24, 1987 in Barra do Piraí, Rio de Janeiro), commonly known as just Ramires , is a Brazilian football player who currently plays as a midfielder for Benfica in the Portuguese first division. In 2008 has won Bronze medal of XXIX Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Brazil coach Dunga has championed a few unsung heroes in the run up to this World Cup and he seems to have great faith in this former Cruzeiro defender who has enjoyed a decent first season in the Portuguese league with Benfica. A hard-working player who covers plenty of ground, he represented his country in the 2008 Olympics.

Five appearances in Brazil's 2010 World Cup qualifying effort confirm he has earned the right to claim one of the precious 23 positions up for grabs in Dunga's plans and he is determined to become more than a backup player when the action gets under way in South Africa.

"The World Cup is all that matters to Brazilian fans and I will not be satisfied if my story this summer is just as a spectator," says Ramires. "Even though I am not the player they are taking about now, we all have a chance to write our own stories and I want mine to have the perfect ending."
