Ram Avtaar Sastry life and biography

Ram Avtaar Sastry belongs to a revolutionary family and was born in Oct, 1948 in Farrukhabad (U.P.). His father Sh. Babu Ram was actively associated with the freedom movement and was privileged to work with Sh. Subhas Chandra Bose. His noble mother Smt. Jaidevi was a big supporter of the family and so encouraged her husband to participate in the Freedom Movement. His ancestral parents were Gujarat- based and effectively participated in the freedom movement in Gujarat.

Sh. Sastry was inspired by the programmes and policies of Hon'ble Sardar Patel when he was studying in school. Sh. Sastry decided to re-establish the programmes & policies of Sarvshree Sardar Patel to appropriately benefit the democratic setup of the country. Sh. Sastry from a very young age was concerned about the neglected & innocent section of the society. There are several examples to justify his concern from time to time. He has been extending financial & physical help to make them sustain their lives under the difficult circumstances. His constant effort to speak for the down- trodden made him popular in the society.

Being publicly acclaimed for his efforts made him to realize that the primary policies of a great visionary Statesman, Sardar Patel, have to be rekindled to ensure that the benefits are derived by the Common people of the Country. His eagerness to do so, made him to create Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Foundation, where Intellectuals, Politicians, from different fields were invited to assist him to meet the desired end results. Thus the Foundation was born as early as 2006.

Sh. Sastry was always keen to propagate the principles of Sardar Patel & decided to use Print Media to do so. Thus, the credit of starting newspapers like' Amrit Mahima' in 1987 & 'Sardar Patel Samachar' in 2002 goes to him. He has successfully utilized these newspapers to raise his voice against the plight of the economically backward section & put forth the ideals of Sardar Patel to reform the prevailing conditions of the society.

Sh. Sastry has composed a spiritual book named Ishwar Ko Pane Ka Marg based om Tattav Gyan which will be release shortly.

Sardar Patel Foundation has focused on activities like:

* Distribution of medicines to the people who are unable to afford medicines. He distributes general medicines on day-day basis.
* To ensure that poor children are provided with the facility of free text books & stationary free of costs to help them to get educated. 1.52 Lakh notebooks & pencils etc. have been given to the children during the last 7Years & 8 Months.
* To distribute warm blankets to the under- privileged to ensure that they can save themselves from the rigorous weather. On an average on year to year basis about 5,000 blankets during the last 7Years & 8 Months & 8,000,00 pieces of clothes have been distributed.
* To strengthen financially the down-trodden section, who are unable to afford the square meals of the day. About 4 Lakh Rupees have been donated to these people for the sake of their welfare on year to year basis.
* The Foundation is concerned to help to educate poor children who are deprived of such opportunities. In view of this, Foundation has established the school for the children of Scheduled tribes in West Bengal.

The objective of the Foundation is to launch the programme called 'Mission Patel' is to propagate the ideas and ideals of Sardar Patel.. The Foundation has decided to honor eminent persons with 'Sardar Patel Award' & 'Sardar Ratna' on year to year basis. The Awards function was initiated as early as 31st Oct, 2006. Many eminent personalities from different fields like politics, Literature, Judiciary, Education etc have been recognized during last 5 years.

The foundation has further decided to achieve certain objectives like the building of Library, Museum, and Auditorium & Memorial of Sardar Patel in the near future. Besides as Audio- Video visual programme to propagate the ideals of Sardar Patel shall be launched. Efforts are being made to run schools and encourage setting of Health centers in rural areas all over the country, especially in North- East region of the country.

Foundation condemns the terrorist activities in the country and has decided to support Government efforts to do so. It is also decided to support the public awareness to help people to develop self mechanism against the terror through Print & Visual Media.
