He was born to a Kannadiga Family in Alwarpet. He is older brother to Prabhu Deva and Nagendra Prasad. His father was a popular dance master for Tamil films. His birth name was Rajendra Sundaram and he is the only one of his brothers who has used his birth name (Prabhu Sundaram became Prabhu Deva and Nagendra Sundaram became Nagendra Prasad).
He learnt Western Dancing in his early teens and also Bharathnatyam. He was also a keen student of the Kathak style of dancing.
He is primarily a choreographer who has choreographed over a hundred songs.
He has acted in a number of films as well- his best known roles being in Jeans (As Madhesh), I love you Da and 123 with his brothers and actress Jyothika. His most recent role is that of Rowdy MBA in Quick Gun Murugun.
His first film as a director is Aegan.He also guided many of the young choreographers in south India(dinesh,shobi,noble,sridhar)
He married Vasanthi in 2003. The couple have a daughter Shobha born in 2005 and a son Tharun H.Babu born in 2007.
