Owen Daniels is an American football tight end for the Houston Texans of the National Football League. He was named as the tight end on the 2006 NFL All-Rookie Team as selected by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Football Writers of America.

Selected by Houston Texans in the fourth round (98th pick overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft…Signed by Texans on July 12, 2006...Re-signed with Texans on June 15, 2009...Placed on reserve/injured list on November 4, 2009...Re-signed with Texans on June 11, 2010.

Sure-handed pass catcher with a knack for finding the open field…has improved his blocking well enough to become an every down tight end…the Texans leader in receptions (207) and receiving yards (2,501) at tight end…ranks second in receptions and receiving yards in team history…became the third player in team history to have 2,000-plus receiving yards in team history…his 139 receiving first downs ranks second in team history…is averaging 46.0 receiving yards per game which is second in team history…became the first Texan to score in the NFL Pro Bowl when he caught a nine-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter of the 2009 game.

2009 (Houston 8/8):
Started at tight end vs. the New York Jets (9/13) and had a team-high four catches for 44 yards...had six receptions for 72 yards and a 3rd quarter game-tying touchdown at Tennessee (9/20) to help set up for the game-winning field goal...caught five passes for 38 yards and a touchdown vs. Jacksonville (9/27)...caught two passes for 48 yards vs. Oakland (10/4)...after a quiet first half, caught 8 passes for 94 yards in the second half at Arizona (10/11)...caught seven passes for 78 yards and tied a career high with two touchdowns at Cincinnati (10/18)...was the team leader in receptions and yards vs. San Francisco (10/25) where he had 7 catches for 123 yards and a touchdown... made one catch for 22 yards at Buffalo (11/1) before leaving the game with a torn ACL....was placed on the reserved/injured list (11/4).

2008 (Houston 16/16):
Started in all 16 games…caught 70 passes for 862 yards, earning his first trip to the Pro Bowl…ranked second among AFC tight ends in receiving yards (862) and first downs (46) this season, trailing only Kansas City TE Tony Gonzalez in both categories…ranked in the top five among AFC tight ends in receptions (third, 70), receiving yards per game (third, 53.9) and yards per reception (fourth, 12.3)...teamed with teammate WR Andre Johnson to form the most prolific receiver-tight end pairing in the NFL with a combined 185 receptions and 2,437 yards…also caught a pair of touchdown passes…scored on a nine-yard touchdown in the Pro Bowl, becoming the first Texan to score in the all-star game…had a career-high 11 receptions for 133 yards at Minnesota (11/2)…caught seven passes for 87 yards at Jacksonville (9/28)…recorded 66 yards on six receptions including two touchdowns vs. Detroit (10/19)…this was Daniels’ second two-touchdown game of his career…caught 11 passes for 131 yards, both career-highs at Minnesota (11/2)…started at tight end vs. Jacksonville (12/1) and caught two balls for 25 yards, bringing receptions total to 50 for the season, his second consecutive 50-catch season…started at tight end at Green Bay (12/7) and caught six passes for 65 yards…caught four passes for 41 yards vs. Tennessee (12/14)…finished the game with seven catches for 111 yards at Oakland (12/21)…it was his second 100-yard game of the season and the second of his career…grabbed a 35-yard pass in the first quarter which was the longest reception of his career….

2007 (Houston 16/16):
Started all 16 games and finished with 63 catches for 768 yards and three touchdowns…reception and yardage totals both ranked sixth among NFL tight ends…63 catches were second-most on the team and his 768 yards ranked third…caught at least one pass in every game…caught a season-high seven passes for 56 yards vs. Indianapolis (9/23)…caught six passes for a season-high 96 yards vs. Miami (10/7)…tied his season high with seven receptions for 82 yards and scored his first TD of the season at Cleveland (11/25)…the touchdown came on a six-yard pass from QB Matt Schaub in the fourth quarter…scored his second TD of the year vs. Tampa Bay (12/9), a four-yarder from QB Sage Rosenfels in the fourth quarter.

2006 (Houston 14/12):
Started 12 games as a rookie…finished tops in NFL among rookie tight ends with 34 catches for 352 yards and five touchdowns…his five scores tied for the team lead and were the most ever by a Texans tight end…set a single-game rookie TE receiving record with 99 yards…started his first career game vs. Philadelphia (9/10)…registered four catches for 44 yards including his first career TD for 33 yards at Indianapolis (9/17)…had a season high 99 receiving yards with nine catches and two TDs at Tennessee (10/29)…had one catch for nine yards and a special teams tackle at New England (12/17)…inactive vs. Indianapolis (12/24) and Cleveland (12/31).

COLLEGE:
Began his Wisconsin career on special teams and at quarterback…moved to flanker and then tight end as a sophomore and also saw action at split end and as a wingback… played in 43 games during his career, 36 of them as a receiver…caught 62 passes for 852 yards (13.7 avg) and eight touchdowns…atmospheric & oceanic sciences major…earned Academic All-Big Ten Conference honors in 2002.

PERSONAL:
Resides in Houston…played basketball and ran track at Naperville (Ill.) Central High School for the Redhawks.
