CAREER:
Clay-court specialist Nicolas Almagro advanced to his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the French Open in 2008, a season in which the Spaniard also won two clay-court titles to finish the year in the Top 20, at No. 18. All five of Almagro's tournament wins have come on clay (Valencia 2006 and 2007, Costa do Sauipe 2008, Acapulco 2008 and 2009). He reached the third round of all four majors in 2009 for the first time.
