Monica (or Mounika) is a beautiful south Indian actress who has acted in all south indian film Industries. She had in many Tamil and Malayalam films. She is popular for her recent Tamil film Silandhi.

South Indian actress Monica was born on 25 August 1987 in Kottayam of Kerala state. Do not get confused her with hot popular Hollywood actress Monica Bellucci who also has same name. This Monica is also written in Indian scripts as Mounika which accurately reflects her name. She is a beautiful south Indian actress who looks like a homely beauty in traditional Indian .

Monica’s original name is Rekha Maruthiraj. She is not a new film actress. She has been acting in films since the age of 3. As such she is popular for her acting talent since childhood to teenage to actress stage. This beautiful girl who did cute little girl’s roles in older tamil films is now doing glamour roles as well along with tradional south Indian girls’ roles. Her Tamil films as child artist include Avasara Police 100 in 1990, Brahma in 1991, Endrum Anbudan, Pandiyan, Varavu Ettana Selavu Pathana in 1992, En Aasai Machaan in 1994, Indira in 1996 and Malayalam film Uncle Bun, Telugu film Chanti in 1991. She had won best child star award from Tamil Nadu government for the film En Aasai Machaan.


Monica has debuted as an actress first in the Malayalam film Industry (Mollywood) with film Theerthadanam in 2001. She debuted in the Tamil film Industry (Kollywood) with film Azhagi in 2002 when she was still in school. She has debuted in the Telugu film Industry (Tollywood) with film Shiva Rama Raju in the same year. She had recently debuted in the Kannada film Industry (Sandalwood) with film Devaru Kotta Tangi in 2009. She has also acted in one Sinhalese film (Srilankan film Industry) Rosa Kele in 2008. Thus she is more of a south Indian actress.

Actress Mounika has acted in more Tamil films – Kadhal Azhivathillai in 2002, Bagavathi, Banda Paramasivam, Inidhu Inidhu Kadhal Inidhu in 2003, Daas, Sandakozhi in 2005, Imsai Arasan 23m Pulikesi in 2006, Thodakkam, Silandhi in 2008 and acting in upcoming films Varnam, Agarathi, Nanjupuram, Gowravargal in 2010. She has also acted in more Malayalam films – Kanninum Kannadikkum in 2004 and Chilanthy in 2007. Monica’s other Telugu films include – Maa Alludu Very Good in 2003, Koduku in 2004, Are in 2005, A Aa E Ee in 2009.
