Monica Bedi life and biography

Monica Bedi is a Bollywood actress who was arrested along with underworld don Abu Salem by the Lisbon Police for entering Portugal with illegal documents. Monica Bedi was born in Punjab, India and after ten months, her family migrated to Norway. She returned to India at the age of 18 to work in Bollywood films.

She started her acting career in Bollywood with Suraksha (1995), followed by the Telugu movie Taj Mahal (1995). This was followed by some more Bollywood movies like Tirchhi Topiwale (1998), Kaala Samrajya (1999), Jaanam Samjha Karo (1999), Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat (2001) and Jodi No.1 in 2001 where she was seen opposite Sanjay Dutt. She participated in reality shows like Bigg Boss (2008) and the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Ja. She also took part in NDTV Imagine’s reality show Desi Girl.After her release from prison, Monica Bedi went back to her native village called Chabbewal in Punjab and she stayed there for some months.

She was arrested in Portugal along with her boyfriend Abu Salem becasue her documents were found to be forged. After many legal battles, both of them were deported in November 2005, after India assured Portugal that Abu Salem would not get a death sentence. In September 2006, Monica Bedi was convicted by an Indian court for passport forgery. The CBI had filed a case against her for cheating, criminal conspiracy and for forging a passport on a fictitious name.

In July 2007, she was released from jail and planned to make a comeback into Bollywood after that.
