Mike Haluchak has been the linebackers coach for the National Football League Oakland Raiders since 2009.

Mike Haluchak is in his second year as Raiders linebackers coach. The Concord, Calif. native has served 24 years as an assistant coach in the NFL, including four as linebackers coach with the Cleveland Browns. In Cleveland, Haluchak developed a number of young linebackers including 2006 first round draft pick Kamerion Wimbley, who now plays for the Raiders. In 2008, Haluchak’s unit helped the Cleveland defense rank 14th in the NFL against the pass and 12th in the league in defense inside the 20-yard line. Before his stint in Cleveland, Haluchak spent two seasons (2003-04) as linebackers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He joined Jacksonville from St. Louis, where he coached for three seasons (2000-02) and helped the Rams to an appearance in Super Bowl XXXVI. Second round draft choice Tommy Polley was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team under Haluchak’s guidance in 2000. Haluchak began his NFL coaching career with San Diego in 1986 and spent six seasons with the Chargers. He has also coached with the Cincinnati Bengals (1992-93), Washington Redskins (1994-96), and New York Giants (1997-99). During his 23 seasons in the NFL, Haluchak has coached three players to six Pro Bowl selections, including San Diego’s Junior Seau (1991), Washington’s Ken Harvey (1995-96) and New York’s Jesse Armstead (1997-99). Haluchak was a high school coach in Southern California from 1972-75 and entered the collegiate ranks as a graduate assistant at USC from 1976-77. He moved to Cal State Fullerton in 1978 as the defensive backfield coach and his first tour as a linebackers coach was at Pacific (1979-80). Haluchak also coached at California (1981), North Carolina State (1982) and spent three seasons with the Oakland Invaders of the USFL (1983-85).

He played linebacker and safety at USC and saw action in the 1969 and 1970 Rose Bowl games against Ohio State and Michigan. He holds a degree in History from USC and a master’s degree in Secondary Education from California Lutheran. Haluchak’s wife’s name is Carol.
