Maksim Chmerkovskiy life and biography

Maksim Chmerkovskiy is a Latin Ballroom dance champion, choreographer, and instructor. He is best known as one of the professional dancers on the American television series Dancing With The Stars, on which he first appeared in season two. He most recently partnered with actress Kirstie Alley. On May 24, they were announced as the runners-up. He is also known for appearing on the reality show Holostiak, a Ukrainian version of The Bachelor.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy will be a contestant on the reality show Superstars, partnered with professional freestyle skier Kristi Leskinen. The premiere is scheduled to air on June 23, 2009.

Born on January 17, 1980, in Odessa to Aleksandr and Larisa Chmerkovskiy, he began dancing at the age of four. His brother, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, is also a champion dancer.

On January 7, 2009, People reported that Chmerkovskiy and fellow Dancing with the Stars dancer Karina Smirnoff became engaged on New Year's Eve 2008 with Chmerskovskiy presenting Smirnoff with "a three-karat Harry Winston platinum and diamond engagement ring tucked inside of a Louis Vuitton bag".
