Larry King is an American television and radio host.

He is recognized in the United States as one of the premier broadcast interviewers. He has won an Emmy Award, two Peabody Awards, and ten Cable ACE Awards.

King began as a local Florida journalist and radio interviewer in the 1950s and 1960s. He became prominent as an all-night national radio broadcaster starting in 1978, and then, in 1985, began hosting the nightly interview TV program Larry King Live on CNN.

On June 29, 2010, it was announced that he would step down as host of the show but would continue to host specials for CNN. In early September, CNN confirmed that he would be replaced by Piers Morgan. King's last show aired on December 16, 2010.

King was born in Brooklyn, New York City, to Edward Zeiger, a restaurant owner and defense plant worker, and his wife Jennie Gitlitz, a garment worker, who emigrated from Belarus. King grew up in a religious and observant Jewish home, but in adulthood became an agnostic. King's father died at 44 of heart disease, and his mother had to go on welfare to support her two sons. His father's death greatly affected King, and he lost interest in school. After graduating from high school, he worked to help support his mother. From an early age, however, he had wanted to go into radio.

King's most recent wife, Shawn Southwick, is an actress who previously served as host of the TV show, Hollywood Insider. Together, the couple have two children, Chance Armstrong King and Cannon Edward King. Chance, the couple's first child, was born in 1999 and Cannon was born one year later, in 2000. On April 14, 2010, TMZ reported that the couple was going to split up. After allegations of infidelity, divorce papers were reportedly been filed in a Los Angeles courthouse.

News of the divorce between King and Southwick began to spread on the iInternet after TMZ issued an exclusive report on the matter.6 The celebrity news and gossip website stated the King and Southwick made the decision to separate after "an explosive argument" occurred at their house in the Beverly Hills area.

News about the divorce was also accompanied by rumors of infidelity. Shawn Southwick apparently suspected that King had an affair with one of her close relatives. Neither Southwick nor King have made any immediate statements on these accusations.

The couple later apparently had a change of heart, both opting to halt divorce proceedings and releasing a joint statement that read, "We love our children, we love each other, we love being a family. That is all that matters to us."

Larry King has had as colorful a life as any of his interview subjects. The son of blue collar workers, he worked to help support his mother and brother as soon as he graduated high school, and entered broadcasting with no formal training. King has been married seven times to six women, and has children with three of his ex-wives and one with an ex-girlfriend. King has been romantically linked with movie and television star Angie Dickinson and former Playboy models.
