Kurt Vincent Thomas is an American professional basketball player, currently playing for the Chicago Bulls. Thomas is a 6'9", 230 lb. power forward/center known for his hard-nosed playing style and tough defense.

As a senior at TCU in 1994-95, he led NCAA Division I in both scoring (28.9 ppg) and in rebounding (14.6 rpg) … one of three players in NCAA history to accomplish the feat (along with Hank Gathers and Xavier McDaniel) … he was named the Southwest Conference Player of the Year … during his four-year career at TCU, he averaged 14.7 ppg and 7.6 rpg in 103 games … he averaged 20.7 ppg and 9.7 rpg in 27 games as a junior … he missed the entire 1992-93 season due to a broken left tibia … as a sophomore, averaged 7.1 ppg and 5.4 rpg in 21 games … during his freshman season, he averaged 0.8 ppg in 1.5 mpg.

PERSONAL:

Has three daughters, Gabriella, Abigayl and Isabella, and a son, Kurt, Jr. … received his degree in psychology from Texas Christian … he is an avid reader, and he lists “Mind Game” by Gary Mack as his favorite book … he was honored with the 2001 “Beyond the Game” Award from the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame (the organization annually selects a professional athlete who goes beyond the boundary of the court and into the community to lead by example and serve others) … in 2001, while he was with the Knicks, he created the Kurt Thomas Investment Challenge … the multi-layered program teaches high school students about the stock market, as well as general financial responsibility … individual winners receive college scholarships and paid internships with financial institutions … he has run the program in New York, Phoenix, Seattle and Texas … serves as a spokesman for the National Neurofi bromatosis Foundation (an organization that exists to find a cure for the genetic children’s disease that causes tumors to grow on the nerves) … while in New York, he published a pair of children’s coloring books that were donated to schools throughout the city.
