Kentwan Balmer is an American football defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League. He was drafted by the 49ers in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft with the 29th overall pick. He played college football at North Carolina.

NFL CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
* Originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round (29th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft.
* Finished 2009 with 20 tackles (seven solo) before being placed on injured reserve (12/9/09) following a shoulder injury suffered vs. Jacksonville (11/29/10). * Played in all 16 games in 2008, totaling 20 tackles (six solo), on the defensive line, in goal-line situations and on special teams.
* Made NFL debut vs. Arizona (9/7/08).

COLLEGE:

Played in 42 games (23 starts), totaling 93 tack- les, seven sacks, 17 tackles for loss and two blocked kicks. Started all 12 games at defensive tackle as a senior caption, totaling 59 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Appeared in 10 games as a junior and started final eight contests at defensive end.

PERSONAL:

Attended Weldon (NC) High School, where he was a member of the North Carolina Shrine Bowl Team after finishing his senior year with 113 tackles, 12 sacks, and six forced fumbles. Majored in African-American histo- ry and communications. Born Kentan Balmer in Weldon, North Carolina.
