From the media to fans, the public was intrigued when Sona Family member Kazz Kumar made the annocement that the she was ready to go solo! Having a track record of hit songs with her bandmates for four years, Kazz was ready to take on the music industry on her own.

Kazz’s talent was already recognized as she had toured the world with the Sona Family and tracks that she had written herself were already played on American prime time TV shows like MTV’s The Hills and NBC’s Las Vegas. On January 25, 2010 this London girl with Sri Lankan origins released her first single Dirty Word. The track did well and reached over 10,000 views on YouTube within the first month. The song was already tipped by New York’s Metro newspaper and R&B sensation Jay Sean as one to watch out for this year!

Kazz made sure that every part of her beginnings as a solo artist were handled with care by linking up with acclaimed duo Amit & Naroop - who have worked with the likes of Taio Cruz, Tinie Tempah and 50 Cent - to direct her debut video.

Beyond the music Kazz has stirred up a buzz with her eclectic sense of fashion. The singer has been dressed by top designers in loud, brassy, poppy, cool and unique attires that have caught the eye of media outlets and designers around the world.

On December 19th 2021, JLS star Oritse Williams announced his engagement to partner Kazz Kumar. The singer, 35, revealed he popped the question while he was touring with JLS during their Beat Again reunion shows in October.
