Josh Morgan continued to display his playmaking abilities throughout the 2009 season, following up on a productive rookie campaign in 2008. Morgan not only contin­ued to improve at the wide receiver position, developing into one of the better blocking WRs in the league, but also showed his versatility on special teams.

Originally a 6th-round (174th pick overall) draft choice by SF in 2008.

•Josh is a writer in the truest sense of the word, dedicating a lot of his time in college to writing poems. His writing courses were his most enjoyable at Virginia Tech. Josh wants to be a writer of some sort one day and he credits his parents as being the ones who instilled his love of writing as a way to keep him motivated and off the rough, Washington D.C. streets where he grew up.

2009:
•Set career highs in recepts. (52), rec. yds. (527), and tied his career high in TDs (3).
•Finished the season ranked t-2nd on the team in recepts. (52) and 3rd on the team in rec. yds (527).
•His isolating blocks were essential in helping RB Frank Gore’s career rushing day in which Gore set two career-long rushes (79, 80 yds.) vs. Sea. (9/20).
•Set a new career long with a 61-yd. reception from QB Shaun Hill in the 1st qtr. vs. Atl. (10/11).
•Saw action as a kick returner for the first time in his career at GB (11/22), registering the team’s longest kickoff return of the season (76-yds.) that helped set up a TD pass by QB Alex Smith.
•Recorded his 2nd TD of the season, hooking up with QB Alex Smith on a 22- yd. strike at Sea. (12/6). Also had 1 carry for 20 yds., the longest rush of his career.
•Recorded a career-high 183 all-purpose yds. at Phi. (12/20). Set a career high with 7 recepts. (61 yds. and 1 TD) and totaled 122 kickoff return yds., including a long of 52 yds.

2008:
•All 3 of his receiving TDs came from over 30 yds.
•Posted first career catch at Sea. (9/14) for an 8-yd. gain.
•Led team with 5 catches for 86 yds. and 1 TD at NYG (10/19). Caught his first NFL TD in 2nd qtr. on a 30-yd. pass from QB J.T. O’Sullivan.
•Started first career game vs. Sea. (10/26).
•Caught second TD of season at Arz. (11/10) on a 31-yd. pass from QB Shaun Hill.
•Caught game-winning TD between two defenders at StL (12/21) on a 48- yd. pass from Hill with 1:31 left in 4th qtr.

COLLEGE

•Started 24 of 51 games at Virginia Tech and closed out his college career ranking 2nd in school history with 122 recepts., 4th with 1,817 yds (14.9 avg) and 4th with 16 TDs. Also had 6 rushing atts. for 20 yds. (3.3 avg) and recorded 4 solo tackles with a pair of blocked kicks. Gained 148 yds. on 14 punt returns (10.6 avg) and 450 yards on 26 kickoff returns (17.3 avg), scoring 98 points. Finished career with 2,435 all-purpose yds. Started 11 games as a senior, leading team with a career-high 46 catches for 552 yds. (12.0 avg) with 5 TDs.

PERSONAL

•Attended Howard D. Woodson (Washington, DC) HS, and earned All-DCIAA honors as a senior.
•Made 8 catches for 275 yds and 3 TDs in a game vs. Glen Mills HS, along with 4 sacks and a blocked punt.
•Spent 2003 fall semester at Fork Union Military Academy, catching 33 pass­es for 845 yds. with 8 TDs. Also blocked 4 punts and posted 1 punt return for a TD.
