Jordan Babineaux life and biography

Jordan Babineaux is an American football Safety and is currently a member of the Seattle Seahawks. He is most notable for his game-saving effort in the 2006 NFC Wild Card game when he tackled Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo on a 4th down scramble just short of the first-down marker after Romo fumbled the snap for what might have been a game-winning field goal for the Cowboys.

Originally signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent April 29 following the 2004 NFL Draft. Signed to the Seahawks’ practice squad following training camp before signing to the active roster November 26.

NFL CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
* Started all 16 games at free safety for the first time of career in 2009. Totaled 105 tackles becoming the first safety since Robert Blackmon in 1997 to record 100 or more in a season. Has primarily served as the team’s nick- el back during his career.
* Has primarily served as the team’s nickel back during his career, also showing the versatility to play safety.
* Has earned the nickname “Big Play Babs” with serveral game-saving plays, including two during the team’s run in Super Bowl XL. First play came at St. Louis (10/9/05) when he forced Shaun McDonald to fumble late in the fourth quarter on a punt return that allowed Seattle to run out the clock. Saved another game when he intercepted Drew Bledsoe versus Dallas (10/23/05) and returned it 25 yards to the Cowboys’ 32-yard line with :05 remaining in the game. Josh Brown then kicked the game-win- ning field goal as time ran out. Helped preserve a 21-20 lead in the final minutes of the 2006 NFC Wild Card game by stopping Cowboys’ Tony Romo at Seattle’s 2-yard line, 1 yard shy of a first down, following a mishandled field goal snap.
* One of the team’s key special teams per- formers totaling 45 career stops with two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
* As a rookie in 2004, saw action in the final six games and the playoff game versus St. Louis (1/8/05) after spending the first 11 weeks on the Seahawks’ practice squad.
* Began the 2006 season as the cornerback in dime packages, but supplanted Michael Boulware at strong safety in the seventh game of the season at Kansas City (10/29). Remained the starting strong safety until injuries at cor- nerback forced him to return to that position and serve as the third cornerback in the nickel package for the final two games of the season.
* Returned an interception 57 yards versus Washington (1/5) in 2007 NFC Wild Card Game for a touchdown.

COLLEGE:

The Southern Arkansas University cornerback played in 39 career games totaling 213 tackles (127 solo). Also posted 3.0 sacks, 10 interceptions, 20 passes defensed, recovered six fumbles, forcing two for the Muleriders. Also returned 17 kickoffs for 487 yards and two touchdowns, including a 100-yard return. Was selected to play in the Division II Whataburger Cactus Bowl All-Star game.
