Jo-Lonn D. Dunbar is an American football linebacker for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League. He was signed by the Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He played college football at Boston College.

NFL CAREER – The lone undrafted rookie free agent to start the season on the club’s active roster in 2008, Dunbar has proven his worth with his inspired play on special teams, where he has recorded 28 special teams tackles in two seasons. He has also started five games at strongside linebacker during his tenure with the Saints, recording 23 tackles and three passes defensed

CAREER TRANSACTIONS – Placed on injured reserve, 12/8/09; Signed by Saints to active roster from practice squad, 9/6/08; Waived by Saints, 8/31/08; Signed by New Orleans to a three-year contract as an undrafted free agent, 4/30/08.

2009 – Played in nine games with three starts, making 16 tackles on defense and 12 more stops on special teams before being placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. vs. Detroit (9/13): Played on special teams. at Philadelphia (9/20): Made two tackles in special teams duty. at Buffalo (9/27): Inactive with a hamstring injury. vs. NY Jets (10/4): Inactive. vs. NY Giants (10/18): Inactive. at Miami (10/25): Recorded one tackle and a pass defense as a reserve linebacker and another stop on special teams. vs. Atlanta (11/2): Made his first start of the season, opening at strong-side linebacker and made six tackles with two more stops on special teams. vs. Carolina (11/8): Started at SLB and for the second straight week posted a career-high with seven tackles (three solo) and added another on special teams. at St. Louis (11/15): Played on special teams and made two tackles in kick coverage. at Tampa Bay (11/22): Made two tackles as a reserve linebacker and tied his career-high with three special teams tackles. vs. New England (11/30): Played on special teams and made one tackle. at Washington (12/6): Started at SLB in place of Scott Fujita but left the game early with a hamstring injury before cracking the stat sheet. Placed on injured reserve due to his injured hamstring, 12/8. 2008 –Appeared in 15 games with two starts and recorded seven tackles (two solo) and two pass defenses and added 16 special teams tackles…Made first career start at strong-side linebacker at Washington, Sept. 14, and notched five tackles (two solo) and two pass defenses…Had a big night on special teams vs. Minnesota, Oct. 6, making a career-high three solo tackles as well as throwing key blocks on Reggie Bush’s two punt return touchdowns.

COLLEGE – Two-year starter and captain at Boston College, notching 269 career tackles with 2.5 sacks and a pair of interceptions over his 46-game career…As a junior tied an NCAA Division 1-A record when he returned two fumbles for touchdowns in the same game.

PERSONAL – Born in Syracuse, N.Y…All-state running back and also played linebacker at Thomas J. Corcoran (Syracuse, N.Y.) HS.
