Jesse Lee grew up in Palo Alto, Calif., where she began pursuing music at an early age. She was performing at state festivals by the time she was 11. At 13, she moved with her family to Florida where she enrolled in a performing arts school. During this time, she opened shows for Willie Nelson, Ronnie Milsap, Clay Walker and other country artists.
After finishing high school, Lee moved to Nashville and enrolled in Belmont University's music business program where she pursued music and songwriting. During this time, she performed at local Nashville clubs and eventually worked with established songwriters such as American Idol judge and songwriter Kara DioGuardi, Hillary Lindsey ("Jesus, Take the Wheel," "This One's for the Girls") and Liz Rose ("Tim McGraw," "Teardrops on My Guitar"). During one of her performances at a fair in Jacksonville, Fla., Lee was invited by Atlantic Records to perform and was later signed. Lee's debut and upcoming album was produced by noted Nashville producers Mark Bright, Paul Worley and Nathan Chapman. "It's a Girl Thing" is her first single from the upcoming album.
