JC Chasez life and biography

JC Chasez is an American singer-songwriter, dancer, entertainer, record producer, and occasional actor, best known as one of the lead vocalists in the former pop group 'N Sync. In 2004, Chasez released a solo album, Schizophrenic, and has gone on to write and produce for music acts such as Girls Aloud, Basement Jaxx, David Archuleta, Matthew Morrison, and the Backstreet Boys. He is currently a judge for America's Best Dance Crew.

Chasez was born in Washington, DC. At age five he was adopted by Roy and Karen Chasez. His biological mother entrusted her son's care to her former foster parents Roy and Karen, hoping that they would be able to provide him with an education and a stable family life. Chasez has said that he does not know who his biological father is, and has no plans to search for him.

After being adopted, Chasez was raised in Bowie, Maryland as a Mennonite. He has a younger brother named Tyler and a younger sister named Heather. Chasez attended the former Belair Junior High School and then Bowie High School.

In 1991 JC's mother read an article in the Washington Post announcing auditions for Disney's The New Mickey Mouse Club, and encouraged him to try out. JC was soon cast as a performer and stayed until the show's cancellation in 1994. It was during his time as a Mouseketeer that he became friends with future bandmate Justin Timberlake.

In 1994 he co-wrote the song Give In To Me with his Mickey Mouse Club friends Dale and Tony. It was one of the songs used for Nsync's demo tape, and in 2000 JC performed lead vocals for the song on Euge Groove's self titled CD.

In 1995 JC came together with Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, Justin Timberlake and Lance Bass to form the vocal group Nsync.

In 1998, the band released its debut album 'N Sync which sold 11 million copies, and became very popular in America. After the band had its series of legal struggles with manager Lou Pearlman, it signed with Jive Records. They released their second studio album No Strings Attached in 2000, which became the fastest selling album of all time, which had the #1 hit single It's Gonna Be Me. The band went on to produce their third studio album Celebrity in 2001.

After the group's Celebrity Tour in 2002, the band decided to take a hiatus.

Going public again in late 2002 with a song on the Drumline soundtrack ("Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)") JC was now working with co-producer Dallas Austin, the man behind a string of TLC hits. A guest spot on Basement Jaxx's Kish Kash a year later helped broaden the singer's audience and expectations for a full album grew. During this time, JC produced his own album, Schizophrenic. Timberlake and Janet Jackson's breast-revealing Super Bowl stunt got Chasez unceremoniously dropped from his duties as halftime entertainer at the Pro Bowl just as he was releasing his debut. Pro Bowl gig or not, Schizophrenic grabbed the media's attention when it dropped in early 2004 because of an exciting lineup of producers (Chasez, Austin, Basement Jaxx, BT) and the racy kickoff single, "Some Girls (Dance With Women)".

JC went on to begin work on another album, tentatively called "The Story of Kate". However, in 2007 JC parted ways with record company Jive which put the album on hold and it has yet to see the light of day. A couple of singles from it have been released online, such as "Until Yesterday" and "You Ruined Me". He has also co-written music for other artists such as David Archuleta, Girls Aloud and 'N Sync's former rival boy band The Backstreet Boys.

In the meantime, he's appeared on various tv shows and ventured into the world of film.

He is currently a judge on Randy Jackson's America's Best Dance Crew on MTV.
