Jason Smith is an American football offensive tackle for the St Louis Rams of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Rams in the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Began career at tight end before moving to tackle for final three seasons…started 39 of 42 contests during career at Baylor (24 at left tackle, seven at right tackle, eight at tight end)…as an offensive lineman, registered 214 knockdowns/key blocks with 29 touchdown-resulting blocks…at left tackle (2007-08), produced 143 knockdowns, 23 touchdown-resulting blocks and 15 downfield blocks…allowed only three quarterback pressures and 4.5 sacks in 1,147 plays at left tackle…only the 10th offensive lineman in school history to earn All-America honors.

SENIOR (2008): Earned first-team All-America honors from the Football Writers Association to became Baylor’s first All-American offensive lineman since guard Frank Ditta in 1980…was Bears’ first All-American offensive tackle since Mike Hughes in 1975…unanimous first-team All-Big 12 Conference selection…96 knockdowns were the most ever by a Baylor offensive lineman…allowed only two quarterback pressures and 3.5 sacks on 290 pass plays…blocking efforts helped Baylor rank 21st in the nation and third in the Big 12 in rushing, averaging 195.75 yards per game…opened holes for Bears to score 29 rushing touchdowns, the most by a Baylor squad since 1994 and third-most all-time in school history…vs. Washington State (9/12): Blocking efforts helped QB Robert Griffin rush for 217 yards, a school single-game record...at Texas (10/31): Blocking efforts helped team rush for 201 yards and two touchdowns on just 29 attempts (6.9-yard average)…vs. Texas A&M (11/15): Part of offensive line that did not allow a sack and opened holes for Baylor to rush for 269 yards and three touchdowns in 41-21 win.

JUNIOR (2007): Earned All-Big 12 Conference honorable mention from the Associated Press despite playing in just seven games…registered 47 knockdowns, six touchdown-resulting blocks and two downfield blocks in 436 snaps…helped Baylor average 273.42 yards per game passing, leading an offensive line that gave up just 21 sacks.

SOPHOMORE (2006): Moved from tight end to offensive tackle prior to spring practice and started all 12 games at right tackle…played every offensive snap in 11 contests…registered 71 knockdown blocks, including six that resulted in touchdowns.

FRESHMAN (2005): Played in 11 games with eight starts at tight end…named the team’s most improved player…caught six passes for 70 yards with one touchdown…vs. Oklahoma (10/22): Scored the only touchdown of his career on a 2-yard pass from QB Shawn Bell…redshirted as a true freshman in 2004.
