James Jones is an American professional basketball player who is currently with the Miami Heat.

The 6'8" (203cm), 215 lb (98 kg) small forward who attended American Senior High in Miami was picked 49th by the Indiana Pacers in the 2003 NBA Draft out of the University of Miami. After playing in only 26 total minutes over six games during his rookie campaign, he played almost a full season during 2004–05, averaging 4.9 points per game while also ranking 25th in the NBA in three-point conversion percentage (39.8%).

Jones was traded by the Pacers to the Phoenix Suns on August 25, 2005, in exchange for a 2008 second-round draft pick.

2009-10 :

Appeared in 36 games (six starts) for the HEAT and averaged 4.1 points (.361 FG%, .821 FT%), 1.3 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 14.0 minutes…missed one game due to injury (Oct. 30 at Indiana with an intestinal virus)…was a healthy scratch on the inactive list 10 times and was a DNP-CD on 35 occasions…led the HEAT in steals twice and in minutes and blocks once each…was Miami’s leading scorer off the bench twice…scored in double figures three times…hit at least one three-point field goal in a game 24 times and hit multiple treys eight times…hit a four-point play with 7:02 left in the first quarter at Orlando on Nov. 25, one of only two for the HEAT in 2009-10…Season Highs: 16 points (at Orlando, Nov. 25), six rebounds (vs. Boston, Nov. 29), four assists (at Toronto, Nov. 20), two steals (twice), one block (four times) and 38:38 minutes (vs. New Orleans, Nov. 22).
