2000 (16-5): Played in all 16 games, making five starts at ROLB, platooning with Roman Phifer…credited with 56 tackles (fifth on the team), five passes defensed, one forced fumble, one interception and one sack…9/11 vs. New England: Started and played one of his best games in a Jets uniform, registering five tackles and sacking Drew Bledsoe for a six-yard loss...11/5 vs. Denver: Started at ROLB and his nine tackles were second most on the team...recorded his first-career interception on a pass intended for TE Dwayne Carswell that he dove to catch…11/12 at Indianapolis: Was second on the team in tackles with seven solo stops and forced a Jim Finn fumble at the Jets' goal-line in the first half…11/19 at Miami: Helped the Jets limit the Dolphins to 200 yards of total offense (117 passing and 83 rushing)…made a big play when he tackled RB Lamar Smith for a six-yard loss on a third-and-one in the first quarter…11/26 vs. Chicago: Had four tackles on the afternoon as a starter...helped the defense limit the Bears to 233 yards of total offense.
1999 (16-4): Played in all 16 games, making four starts while splitting time at the ROLB spot…registered 38 tackles, two sacks, two passes defensed and one forced fumble…also had seven special teams tackles and played on numerous special teams units…started the first three games of the season at ROLB...9/26 vs. Washington: Had three tackles, one pass defense and one special teams…10/3 at Denver: Split time at ROLB and chipped in with two special teams stops…11/7 vs. Arizona: Recorded his first sack of the season, dropping Dave Brown for an eight-yard loss which came on the Cardinals' last possession of game and deep in their own territory…added two solo tackles and a forced fumble…12/12 vs. Miami: Had a season high five tackles and sacked Dan Marino for a nine-yard loss…12/19 at Dallas: Started at ROLB in the team's 22-21 win over the Cowboys and had four solo tackles…1/2 vs. Seattle: Had two tackles and generated pressure on Jon Kitna throughout the day in the team's 19-9 win over the Seahawks in the season finale.
1998 (12-2/2-0): Played in 12 games with two starts and registered 27 tackles and a fumble recovery...9/6 at San Francisco: Had six solo tackles and one pass defense in the opener…midway through the third quarter suffered a sprained right knee and did not return to action...was inactive for next four games...10/19 at New England: Returned to the starting lineup...11/8 vs. Buffalo: Had two solo tackles and even saw some time at SS in the dime package...11/15 at Indianapolis: Saw the most extensive action since his injury when he had four tackles...12/6 vs. Seattle: Had one fumble recovery and played on special teams...AFC Divisional Game 1/10 vs. Jacksonville: Had one special teams tackles...AFC Championship Game 1/17 at Denver: Posted two tackles, one sack and two special teams tackles.
1997 (16-15): Was the eighth player selected overall in the 1997 draft (first LB)...Jets traded their first-round pick (first overall) to St. Louis for its first (sixth overall), third, fourth and seventh-round picks...Jets then traded the No. 6 overall pick to Tampa Bay and obtained its first-round pick (No. 8 overall) and its fourth-round pick…enjoyed a steady, productive rookie campaign in the team's 3-4 defense...racked up 71 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one pass defense...9/7 vs. Buffalo: Made his starting debut at ROLB (weak-side) in the Jets' 3-4 defense and had three tackles (two solo)…also tackled Buffalo P Chris Mohr for a nine-yard loss when he muffed the snap...9/14 at New England: Led the team with 10 tackles...11/2 vs. Baltimore: Had a big day...had eight tackles (five solo) and helped to keep RB Bam Morris in check...sliced through blocks and hauled down Morris on a crucial third-and-one situation for a two-yard loss...11/23 vs. Minnesota: Teamed with DB Corwin Brown to force his first career fumble and registered six solo tackles...12/14 vs. Tampa Bay: Was a big factor in all aspects of the defense...had four tackles (one solo) and teamed up with fellow LB Mo Lewis to sack Trent Dilfer.
COLLEGE: Was a three-year starter and four-year letterman for the Cavaliers...ranked third on Virginia's all-time tackle chart with 381 stops at the time of his departure. 1996: Earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference first-team honors as a senior while registering 107 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, seven passes defensed, 6.5 sacks. 1995: As a junior he earned all-ACC second-team honors after he started every game at LOLB and led the team in tackles (122 stops)...also had half sack, nine passes defensed and an interception. 1994: Earned all-ACC honorable mention as a sophomore when he started every game at LOLB and finished second on the team in tackles (100), one sack, a blocked punt, four interceptions and six passes defensed. 1993: Appreared in 10 games as a freshman and had 52 tackles, placing him seventh on the team, despite not starting any games...earned ACC Newcomer of the Week honors when he came off the bench to register 18 tackles vs. Ohio...had seven tackles and a fumble recovery vs. Boston College in the Carquest Bowl...majored in psychology.
