He is the first artist to be signed to Jay-Z's label Roc Nation. His debut album is officially titled Cole World: The Sideline Story with Work Out being the first single. J. Cole Stated he does not want any high profile names in his album, excluding his mentor Jay-Z, although Trey Songz has been confirmed. He said he wants peers in his album, rappers he really feels and can relate to; not too far from his own age range or of too high profile. Fellow XXL Freshman Classmate Fashawn being one of them as well as Kendrick Lamar & XV.
Raised by his mother in North Carolina, J Cole hometown of Fayetteville would give a lot of sights and experiences that would shape his sound Cole fell into rapping at 12 years when his cousin from Louisiana spent the summer in Fayetteville showed him the basics of rhyming, he was connected directly from there he dug deep into the music of hip hop celebrities with Tupac Shakur and Nas Outkast take away a love for telling stories with unbridled rigor Seizing every opportunity to leave at 15 age J Cole found himself with composition notebooks full of rhymes, but nothing beats of their own to put them on a firm to create your own songs, he asked his mother to a beat machine so he coulde proproducera music only for himself, she granted his wish, and from a young Cole spent all her free time creating sounds and songs that would lay the groundwork for what his style has evolved to today
Feeling the need to be heard, J Cole used college as a tool to chase his dreams, he attended St. John's University on an academic scholarship to choose school so he could be in the heart of the music industry: New York City After polishing his sound and graduated Magna Cum Laude J Cole released his debut mixtape properly titled "The Come Up" hosted by DJ On Point mash of dusty soul filled ljudrum raw energetic drums, and an endless variety of topics, ranging from carefree days in college, seemingly endless state ofm which the poor scrapping for change-The CAGR Up sets J Cole broad range of lyrical and production talents on display, "All a nigga want to do is to take his mother from that, but they rather lock us up and make sure we are not coming back "he spits violently over cascading keys and triumphant strings of self-produced" Lil 'Ghetto Nigga "
With such a diverse display J Cole is ready to wake up a dormant industry and cement his name in this game, but more than that with his debut album for currently in production, he hopes to change the current wave of rap music swinging it in a more meaningful insight and passionate direction.

J.Cole has purposefully avoided releasing his debut album’s title for fear of inconsistency. He announced that Jay-Z will be featured on his debut album.
On June 21st, J. Cole took to Twitter to announce that his debut album will be released on September 27th and go under the title Cole World: The Sideline Story.
