Henry Melton is a defensive end for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League. He is an alumnus of the the University of Texas.

NFL Career:

Saw his rookie season derailed by an injury, landing on Injured Reserve on 9/5 prior to the Bears season opener.

2009 SEASON: Played in the preseason, but was placed on Injured Reserve (9/5) prior to the season opener.

Versatile former running back who switched to defensive end during his career at Texas (2005-08)... Played in 49 games (24 at defensive end and 25 at running back) with 11 starts (10 at DE and 1 at RB)... Registered 40 tackles, 4.0 sacks, 11 TFLs, 20 QB pressures, 3 PBUs, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries and a blocked FG... Tabbed honorable mention all-Big 12 by the league's coaches as a senior... Rushed for 625 yards and 16 TDs on 132 carries (4.7 ypc) during his first two seasons with the Longhorns... During sophomore season, saw action in all 13 games, 12 at RB and 1 on defense... Rushed for 193 yards on 45 carries (4.3 avg) to go along with 6 TDs... Gained 63 yards on a career-high 19 carries with two TDs in his first-career start against Sam Houston State... Played in all 13 games at running back as a freshman... Ran for 432 yards on 87 carries to go along with 10 TDs... His 10 rushing TDs ranked third on UT's all-time freshman list... Tallied three multi-TD games... Scored two TDs and posted 34 yards on 13 carries in the Big 12 Championship Game.

Four-year letterman at Grapevine H.S.... Second-team All-USA selection by USA Today in 2004... An all-district pick as a running back, posting over 800 yards and scoring eight TDs in his final year at Grapevine... Earned all-district 5-5A honors as a junior while rushing for over 800 yards and 12 TDs... Also gained over 800 yards as a sophomore... Lettered his freshman year and scored the game-winning TD in Grapevine's opening-round playoff win over Azle... Competed in track and field as a freshman, sophomore and junior and played baseball as a freshman... Born in Cedar Hill, Texas and also lived in San Diego, Calif. and Yokosuka, Japan as a child... Graduated with a degree in education... His uncle, Ray Crockett, was a two-time all-SWC pick at Baylor (1985-88) and played 14 years in the NFL with Detroit (1984-93), Denver (1994-2000) and Kansas City (2001-02)... His sister, Kameshia, played volleyball at Auburn (2003-04).
