Fred Jackson is an American football running back for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League.

PRO: Originally, signed to Bills practice squad on September 3, 2006 … played two seasons with the Sioux City Bandits of the United Indoor Football League where he was named league MVP and Offensive Player of the Year in 2005. … set a United Indoor Football League record with 1,770 yards and 53 touchdowns in 2005. … played in NFL Europa in 2006 with the Rhein Fire – led the team with 731 rushing yards.

* Became the first player in NFL history to rush for more than 1,000 yards and total more than 1,000 kickoff return yards in the same season in 2009

* Vs. NO (9/27): Produced 97 scrimmage yards (71 rushing, 25 receiving) … combined to record 425 scrimmage yards in first three games of the season, marking the fourth-most in team history through the first three games by an individual player to start a season
* Vs. HOU (11/1): Gained 178 yards on five kickoff returns, setting a new career-high… recorded a 71-yard kickoff return, the longest of his career, in the second quarter
* At TEN (11/15): Threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to WR Lee Evans on the team’s first drive… was his first career pass attempt and became the eighth non-Bills QB to complete a TD pass in team history… led the team with 48 rushing yards on eight carries, caught three passes for 23 yards and added 167 kickoff return yards on seven attempts (new career-high) along with 25 punt return yards on two returns
* Vs. MIA (11/29): Recorded his first career multi-touchdown game with two rushing scores… produced a team-high 73 yards rushing on 15 carries … added five catches for 43 yards and three kickoff returns for 61 yards
* At KC (12/13): Ran for a team-best 99 yards on 20 carries

Attended Coe College, a Division III school in Cedar Rapids, IA … rushed for 1,702 yards and 29 touchdowns as a senior in 2002 … played for four years … named all-America and Iowa Conference MVP of the Aztec Bowl. … Graduated in 2003 with a degree in sociology.

PERSONAL:

Native of Fort Worth, TX … attended Lamar High School in Arlington, TX … married to Danielle Jackson on July 8, 2006 and they have one son Braeden and one daughter Kaelen … has an identical twin brother named Patrick and two younger sisters Krystal and Tryna Jackson … had his number retired by the United States Indoor Football League’s Sioux City Bandits in May 2008 … prior to starting his professional football career, he worked as a youth counselor for Systems Unlimited in 2003-04 and the Boys and Girls club in 2005.

COMMUNITY:
Fred participated in the 2009 Community Ticket Donation Program by donating 20 season tickets to Carly’s Club. Over 200 people were part of Freddy’s Fanatics and attended Buffalo Bills home games where they were also treated to food and beverage coupons compliments of Fred.

Along with former Bills players Ryan Denney and Josh Reed, Fred served as a spokesperson for the Buffalo Bills “Billieve” Campaign in 2009. Fred volunteered at the “Billieve” Breast Cancer Awareness autograph signing of Bills “Billieve” merchandise at the Bills Store in Orchard Park. Five dollars from the sale of each “Billieve” pink logo item goes to the Western New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Fred was also a part of the Red Ribbon Rally in 2009. Fred, along with other Bills teammates spoke to students in Buffalo Public Schools and encouraged them to make good decisions and stay away from drugs. Fred was also served as a spokesperson for the 2009 Kid’s Escaping Drugs Campaign, Face Your Fears. The funds that were raised benefited the Kid’s Escaping Drugs Face to Face Program which is an educational outreach program that goes into the schools to help kids at an age where they are faced with difficult choices.
