He had occupations including writer, artist, author, novelist, poet, civil servant, playwright, translator, children's writer, pacifist and school-teacher. He served in the World War I, experience which he transposed in his novels Moartea unei republici rosii and 1916. He was a collaborator with the major publications at that time and he was a member of the 'Sburatorul' circle. Aderca promoted the ideas of literary innovation, cosmopolitanism and art for art's sake, reacting against the growth of traditionalist currents.
He died on December 12th 1962 at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 29 days old. His cause of death was cancer.
