Emily began studying ballet at age 9 and was accepted to the renowned Australian Ballet School by age 15. Emilie De Ravin then dropped out of the school and took acting classes instead. She completed a drama workshop at the prestigious Australian drama school, National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). Upon moving to Los Angeles, Emilie continued acting classes at Prime Time Actors Studio.
The first acting role of Emilie De Ravin came on the TV series "BeastMaster," where she played the role of demon Curupira from 1999 to 2000. She then landed a role on another TV series, this time as Tess Harding on "Rosswell," where she appeared until 2002. Her movie debut came in 2002 with the TV-movie remake of "Carrie." From 2003 to 2004, Emilie made guest appearances on several TV shows, including "NCIS," "The Handler" and "CSI: Miami."
In 2004, Emilie De Ravin won a regular spot on the new ABC drama "Lost." From the first season in 2004, until 2008, she portrayed the role of Claire Littleton stuck in the mysterious island. Although she won't be appearing in the fifth season of Lost, De Ravin's character Claire will be back for the entire sixth season.
On the big screen, Emilie De Ravin appeared on several movies, including the thriller "Brick," the remake of Wes Craven's "The Hills Have Eyes," the Rosanna Arquette drama "Ball Don't Lie," "The Perfect Game," Johnny Depp's crime film "Public Enemies" and the TV-movie "High Noon." Other upcoming movies of Emilie De Ravin in 2010 and 2011 include "Rogue's Gallery," "The Chameleon," "Guardians of Ga'Hoole" and "Remember Me" with Twilight star Robert Pattinson.
After three years of dating, Emilie De Ravin married actor Josh Janowicz on June 19, 2006. The couple separated several months later, but only filed for divorce in June 2009.
