Elizabeth Berkley is an American television, movie, and theatre actress. Berkley's most notable roles were in the television series Saved by the Bell, as brainy feminist Jessie Spano, and the 1995 Paul Verhoeven movie Showgirls, as exotic dancer Nomi Malone.Displaying her aptitude for dancing, her parents enrolled her at the Detroit Dance Company at the age of 5. Soon she began performing at shows such as Swan Lake, and eventually at TV shows such as Gimme a Break! and Silver Spoons.

She made her film debut in the TV movie Frog, but her breakthrough role was in the sensational Saturday morning show, Saved by the Bell. She stayed on the show's entire run as the smart and brave Jessie Spano and worked alongside Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen and Dustin Diamond. In 1995, Elizabeth Berkley started her official movie career with the release of Showgirls. However, the movie was critically panned and is generally credited in ruining her image as an actress. This failure didn't break her heart though, and Elizabeth Berkley continued to redeem herself by making guest appearances on Jack and Jill and NYPD Blue. While in The First Wives Club, Elizabeth Berkley did 5 movies in 1999, including Oliver Stone's Any Given Sunday. Her most notable project to date is Woody Allen's The Curse of the Jade Scorpion, which was released in 2001.

Her other TV credits include Threshold, Without a Trace, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and recurring roles in Titus.

Elizabeth Berkley then focused her acting skills in theater, wherein she received critical acclaim for her performances in productions such as Lenny in 1999 held at the London stage as well as the Off-Broadway Hurlyburly in 2005.

The sexy actress is a vegetarian, and is an active supporter for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
