Born to a German father and an American mother, Rohm was raised in NYC. After her parents' divorce, she was educated at a boarding school in Tennessee and then moved to Miami to try her hand at modeling. When that didn't pan out, Rohm enrolled in college and found her calling when she was cast in her first stage role.
Following graduation, she briefly worked as an agent's assistant until she landed her first professional TV job, a 1997-98 recurring role on the ABC serial "One Life to Live". Producer Dick Wolf introduced her to primetime with a lead in the busted Fox pilot "The Invisible Man" (1998). Guest appearances and parts in projects like the NBC miniseries "The 60s" (1999) followed before Rohm landed the recurring role of L.A. police detective Kate Lockerly on the popular supernatural spin-off "Angel" (The WB). Beginning in 2000, she pulled double duty, continuing to make appearances on "Angel" while co-starring as an ambitious Wall Street investment banker on the short-lived TNT drama "Bull". In the fall of 2001, Rohm was cast as a passionate and forthright assistant district attorney on "Law & Order", produced by Dick Wolf. While the actress had the support of the staff and her co-workers, some TV critics were less than impressed with her addition to the series.
Rohm was long an avid equestrian, but gave up horseback riding after a 2005 accident that she spoke about in a 2011 episode of the Biography Channel series Celebrity Close Calls.
Rohm has been in a relationship with entrepreneur Ron Wooster since 2005 and engaged since 2007. Rohm gave birth to their daughter, Easton August Anthony Wooster, on April 11, 2008.
Along with the rest of the cast of the TV series Law & Order, Rohm shared nominations from the Screen Actors Guild in 2002 and 2004 for the award for "Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series".
