Dub Pistols are a London dub music band, founded by ex-club promoter Barry Ashworth in 1996. The other members of the band are record producer Lee Spencer, guitarist John King, bassist Jason O’Bryan, programmer Bill Borez and turntablist Malcolm Wax.

Dub Pistols use a mix of big-beat techno crossed with a punk-rock attitude. The Dub Pistols were formed in late 1996, their debut album ‘Point Blank’ was released in ‘98 after they were signed to Concrete Records. The follow up album ‘Six Million ways to Live’ was released during 2003 and showed a change in the groups musical direction. A remix album followed a year later titled ‘Y4K - Next Level Breaks’.

In 2007, The Dub Pistols teamed up with Terry Hall of The Specials to put out their latest effort, Speakers & Tweeters. From their early beginnings as a soundsystem project, Dub Pistols have grown into a party-rocking live band that ignites festivals and venues. Their infectious blend of ska, dub, hip-hop, electronic music and punk has won them many fans around the globe over the past 15 years and, following sold-out shows across Europe, they were justifiably voted the Best Live Act at DJ Mag’s Best Of British Awards at the end of 2011.

In recent years the band has mutated from a studio based duo into a fully fledged live act often featuring the talents of guest vocalists Rodney P, Specials front man Terry Hall, rap wünderkid T.K., Sugardaddy horn-blower Tim Hutton & scratch maestro DJ Stix. This years Glastonbury saw Neville Staple from The Specials join the Pistols live on stage for the encore ‘Gangsters’.

Frontman Barry Ashworth is also known for his full-throttle peak-time DJ sets across Australia, Singapore, Serbia, Dubai, Thailand, Germany, Croatia, Italy and France, to name but a few. Whilst 2010 is yet another busy year for Barry; licensing deals with Playstation Singstar & Hollywood Movies Parenthood & Piranha 3D, remixes in the making for Atomic Hooligan, DJ Love & Myagi, and his co-owned label Westway making bigger waves than ever. There is just no letting up for this much-loved party starter.
