Reinhardt was born on October 22, 1985 in Torrance, California to John and Kelly Reinhardt (now Kelly Roberts). He was raised in Murrieta, California with his sister, Casey Reinhardt, who is two years younger. After his parents divorced, his mother married Duane Roberts, inventor of the frozen burrito and owner of the Mission Inn, a historic landmark hotel in Riverside, California. Reinhardt moved to Laguna Beach, California with his mother, stepfather, and sister, who eventually appeared in Season 2 of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County.
Reinhardt started playing organized baseball at age four and continued through his years at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. He turned down a baseball scholarship with the University of Southern California to sign with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as their 10th round pick (293rd Overall). In 2007, Reinhardt signed with the Baltimore Orioles and blew his knee out. His contract was up the following season.
During his three years of professional baseball, Doug had the misfortune of suffering multiple knee injuries, often requiring surgery. Instead of feeling down about his luck, Doug decided to use his injuries as an opportunity to re-focus on his academic career by enrolling in Pepperdine University. At the same time, he continued to pursue his professional baseball career as well, signing with the Baltimore Orioles for the 2007 Season.
While playing professional baseball Doug co-founded two mobile technology companies in 2005, Fugen Mobile, LLC and Fun Facter, LLC. Fugen Mobile is a mobile technology provider with a focus on text messaging, mobile websites, applications and mobile video. Fun Facter is a consumer based mobile entertainment company which licenses, creates and distributes premium mobile content services nationwide. Doug currently serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of both companies and is committed to the advancement and longevity of both companies and continues to focus on the overall vision of the companies success.
It was while recovering from yet another surgery in 2008 that Doug was featured as a new cast member in the popular MTV reality series, "The Hills". In spite of never having acted before Doug, jumped at the opportunity and quickly became a fan favorite.
While enjoying his time on television, Doug was unprepared for the amount of time the series would take out of his already busy schedule. Between an active shoot schedule and constant travel to build his two new businesses, Doug was left searching for a new way of keeping in shape that would fit his increasingly busy lifestyle which lead him to create the Reinhardt Kettlebell System.
Reinhardt attended Pepperdine University as an undergraduate and was accepted to Pepperdine University School of Law before being offered the opportunity to work in baseball.
Reinhardt began dating Paris Hilton in February 2009; Hilton has also referred to her intention to marry Reinhardt, saying "He's gonna be my husband." The couple broke up in June 2009, only to get back together again in August of the same year. On April 13, 2010, Hilton reportedly split from Reinhardt because she was worried he was just using her to further his career.
